Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT?

At Merivale Physiotherapy Clinic we want your first visit to be a memorable one. In your first visit the focus will be a thorough assessment and a diagnosis, plus your first treatment.

Once we thoroughly assess you and provide you your diagnosis, an individualized treatment plan and rehabilitation exercises will be prescribed. We will make sure that you understand everything about your diagnosis so that you are aware of your condition.

Be sure to wear loose-fitting comfortable clothing (including sports bra or tank top for women) to your first visit. If you normally wear corrective lenses or hearing aids, be sure to have them in place as communication between you and your physiotherapist is important.

Bring information about any medications you are currently taking as well as any reports on your injury of condition that might be provided by your doctor.

DO YOU ACCEPT HEALTH INSURANCE?

At Merivale Physiotherapy Clinic, we are capable of direct billing most of the insurance companies.

You will only have to pay your portion in the clinic and we will bill the rest directly to your insurance company with no paperwork for you.

If the clinic does not bill directly to your insurance company or if you do not have insurance, payment must be made on delivery of services. All major credit cards are accepted.

DO YOU ACCEPT WSIB OR MVA PATIENTS?

We are fully set up to handle Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims.

Unfortunately, we are not set up to take in workplace injury (WSIB) claims.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO GO TO MERIVALE PHYSIOTHERAPY CLINIC?

Although most of our patients are referred by their physicians, you can come to our clinic without a referral. However, be advised that many insurance companies require a physician referral.

DO YOU ACCEPT OHIP (ONTARIO HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN)?

Merivale Physiotherapy Clinic is not a publicly- funded clinic. For OHIP clinics, please visit http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/physio/pub_clinics.aspx.
